Upcoming talks and workshops
Really excited to be talking in person in Kilkenny!
I’m really pleased to be attending my first UCISA event, and doing a version of my ‘communicating the benefits of UX to everyone who needs to hear them’ workshop.
I’m presenting my first ever UXLibs workshop at the 7th edition of the Greatest Conference In The World…
Excited to be presenting at VALA - online, but I wish it was in person! (The time of 9:15 on the 16th is the Australian time. For me it’ll be 12:15am…)
I am very honoured to be giving a keynote on UX Research and Implementation in Libraries, at the Stellenbosch University Library Symposium. The theme this year is User Experience, and I'll be talking about what UX is, how it works in practice, and how we use it at the University of York.
(As much as I'd LOVE to head back to South Africa, I haven't been able to make the travel work this time so am doing it remotely. One day I'll get back!)
I'm delighted to be talking about branding the academic and research Library at this conference in Denmark, the theme for which is Branding in a new culture: the role of the library in a learning- and research environment.
I'm presenting with Michelle Blake at UXLibs IV, in Sheffield. We'll be talking about how to move UX from a novel new way of working to something truly embedded in the organisational culture.
I'm speaking at the annual staff training event for regional libraries in New South Wales - sadly not in Australia but by video link...
I'm absolutely thrilled to be giving a talk on ethnography and UX and its possible applications beyond the library sector, at the Marketing Excellence Awards for the Welsh council, in Aberystwyth.

I'm organising the UXLibs Conference this year, with Matt Borg and Andy Priestner. I'll be presenting at it briefly also. It's going to epic!
More details on the UXLibs site.
I am absolutely delighted to be giving a talk at the NLPN's conference at Madlab in Manchester. I really miss interacting with New Professionals (now it's a full five years since I could legitimately call myself one) and this talk is about things I wish I'd known earlier.
There's loads of other great talks happening too. NLPN are a great group, really looking forward to this whole thing.
More details of the event here from NLPN's own blog. Get your (FREE) ticket via Eventbrite, here.
I am as excited and honoured as I've ever been to be delivering a Keynote at the annual LIANZA conference. This year it's in Wellington, at the very cool looking Shed 6 in the harbour. My talk will be on the Tuesday afternoon - I'm also a 'human book' on the Monday afternoon...
The theme of the conference is SHOUT! The provisional title for my talk is 'How to shout so your users listen, and listen so your users shout'...
Details of the conference, including booking info, are emerging on the LIANZA website.
I've been asked to focus on Social Media for this talk, but it will cover other aspects of digital communication in libraries too!
Details of the conference will appear soon on the Forum for Interlending website.
